Dear friends,
First, I want to encourage you to pray with us as we believe God for the reduction and ultimate elimination of COVID-19 in our community, country, and the world at large. Mathew 19:26 says, “Jesus looked at them and said, With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” Now is the time to activate our faith not shrink back in fear. I believe that if we petition heaven, God will hear us. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Remember, God loves His children and He hears His children.
With that being said, Interfaith Family Services is closely monitoring the COVID-19 issue and acting in accordance with the recommendations of the Dallas County Health & Human Services (DCHHS) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Until instructed to do otherwise by DCHHS or city officials, we will remain open to support working poor families in need. We are committed to operating in a manner that ensures the health of our clients, volunteers, and guests while also maintaining access to our services for families in crisis who need it the most. We are working hard to ensure the continual cleanliness of our facility and the availability of disinfectant, soap, and sanitizer for our employees, clients, and guests. To that end, Interfaith will remain open as it relates to urgent services such as childcare, transitional housing for homeless families, distribution of food via our food pantry, and access to rent and utility assistance for those who need it.
We also seek to expand our ability to provide rent and utility assistance to those vulnerable workers who are most impacted by this situation by launching a COVID-19 Affected Workers Fund. We encourage those who can to donate to this fund. It will provide emergency support for low-wage and hourly workers in the travel, hospitality, and entertainment industries with children ages 0 to 18. If you know anyone, in need of assistance, please direct them to SupportForMom.com.
Please also note that all non-essential programming and meetings will be cancelled until April 3, 2020. Those services include the following:
In the event that we are instructed by DCHHS to cease operations, an announcement will be posted to our website, phone line, and social media accounts.
As each of us is impacted by this situation, let us not forget those hard-working low-wage families who are just one paycheck away from homelessness. Please join us in providing support and programming that will turn this crisis into a catalyst for positive community change. Let’s come together and show the world how it is done!
Your sister in the faith,
Kimberly Williams
