CAREER COACH
Monday – Thursday 10:00am to 12:00pm

Career Coaches help our families on the tough journey of finding a job. Volunteers partner with our Career Services Manager to aid our families in their personal and professional development. Volunteers assist our families with reviewing their resumes, editing cover letters, performing mock in-person and phone interviews, as well as other assigned professional tasks.

CHILDREN’S CHAMPION
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:00pm to 6:00pm

Children’s Champions volunteer in our elementary education department support our Elementary Education staff during the afterschool program and summer day camp. Children’s Champions are enthusiastic about assisting our staff in a variety of ways. Their duties range from 1 on 1 mentoring, helping lead planned group activities, supervising computer use, to chaperoning a trip outside or off property.

CHILDREN’S CHAMPION
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Children’s Night Champions assist with preparing the food, serving the food, cleaning the dishes, and assisting the Interfaith teachers with educational and enriching activities, games, and exercises. Occurs every Tuesday and Thursday evening while parents are in Financial Coaching. This is a good opportunity for small groups, families, or individuals!

FINANCIAL COACH
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Our Financial Coaches meet with our families 1 on 1. They commit themselves weekly to assist in basic financial education and budget coaching for a family’s entire stay in our transitional housing program. Coaches will lead them in basic financial literacy and work together on their weekly budget to improve how they spend and save.

HOUSEHOLD BIN COORDINATOR
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Interfaith now has an opportunity for you to volunteer in a special way. You and/or your group can gather at your own locations to create bins with the items that your group collects. Interfaith will help arrange for you to drop off the finished bins at our warehouse or come to pick them up from you for bulk collections. Each bin will stock a specific area within the apartment. The donation bin options include Kitchen Utility Bin, Kitchen/Dining Ware Bin, Kitchen Service Bin, Cleaning Supplies & Paper Products Bin and Bathroom Bin. The Household Bin Coordinator positions are done offsite at your locations once coordinated with the Director of Community Engagement and Director of Residential Services.

NEW HOME COORDINATOR  (Positions currently at full capacity)
Flexible weekdays, daytime hours preferred

New Home Coordinators help our Director of Residential Services prepare our 25 apartments for our incoming families. New Home Coordinators assist with sorting donations, cleaning and decorating apartments, and the overall organization and maintenance of our housing services.

TEEN TUTOR
Monday-Friday, 4:30pm to 7:00pm

Teen Tutors work with our 7th – 12th grade children in an afterschool and summer day camp setting. Teen Tutors assist our Teen Program Manager. Tutors assist our teens with math and reading exercises on computers, facilitate book club, and assist with character development games. Teen Tutors work with preparing them for higher level learning and college as they embark on the most academically influential years of their lives.

WEDNESDAY WORD & WORSHIP
4th Wednesday. Once Monthly.

Wednesday Word and Worship church/organization partners assist by providing 6 volunteers and sponsoring dinner for adults and children. This would consist of a simple meal for approximately 30 individuals (including children). Volunteers will comprise of one small group bible study leader to lead the message, two individuals willing to provide and serve food and three volunteers to assist in the children’s area with a Bible activity.

2ND SATURDAY
2nd Saturday. Once Monthly. 9:00am to 12:00 noon

2nd Saturday is a volunteer opportunity for families, small groups, businesses and individuals, with group size between 10 to 15 people, to serve on a weekend. 2nd Saturday volunteers assist our Housing and Facilities staff with numerous tasks around our property. The most common tasks include cleaning, preparing, and decorating an apartment, deep cleaning of public spaces and children’s program spaces, sorting donated goods, and light maintenance and landscaping.

CHRISTMAS STORE HELPERS
December. Annually.

The Christmas Store is a 3-day event for 50 Interfaith families and over 150 children in need. Interfaith provides our families with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to “shop” for all things Christmas. This annual event is a volunteer opportunity for families, small groups, businesses and individuals who wish to serve during the Christmas season. Christmas Store Helpers assist with organizing the store, sorting donations, gift wrapping, assisting the parents and children with selecting gifts, and interacting with the children during their Christmas party. This is a very exciting event!

SUMMER CHILDREN/TEEN CHAMPION
June-August. Annually.

Be a Summer Champion volunteer in our summer day camp! Children’s and Teen’s Champions are enthusiastic about assisting our staff in a variety of ways. Their duties range from 1-on-1 mentoring, assisting with character development games, helping lead planned group activities, supervising computer use and chaperoning a trip outside or off the property.

Volunteer Supervision is required.
For groups, Interfaith requires one (1) parent/chaperone per ten (10) volunteers.

SUMMER STORY TIME LEADER
Fridays, 9:00am, 10:00am, or 11:00am

Story Time Leaders provide an interactive and educational story with elementary children in our summer program. Volunteers partner with our Youth Services team to host story time and the accompanying activity/craft, as part of that day’s lesson. All materials are planned and provided by staff.  This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals or groups of 2-3.

Age Requirement: 14+, Chaperone Required

SUMMER READING BUDDY
Tuesdays & Thursdays, Time TBD

Summer Reading Buddies are paired with elementary children to practice reading one-on-one.  Our Youth Services team will assist you with picking out a grade-level appropriate book for your child.  Then, you’ll follow a simple lesson plan to improve a child’s literacy skills, including comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary words.

Age Requirement: 16+, No Chaperone Required
Available Dates: 6/25, 6/27, 7/11, 7/16, 7/18, 7/30, 8/1, 8/13, 8/16

SUMMER CRAFT BUDDY
Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Craft Buddies lead a 1-hour craft activity in our summer program for elementary-aged children that promotes creative expression and exploration. Our Youth Services teams provides recommended craft activities to choose from, or, volunteers can lead a unique activity if they are able to provide the supplementary materials (for example: canvasses for a painting). 30 minutes are provided for set-up and clean-up. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals or groups of 2-3.

Age Requirement: 14+, Chaperone Required
Available Dates: 7/8, 7/15, 7/17, 7/29, 7/31, 7/12, 7/14

PANTRY PARTNERS
1st Monday or 3rd Wednesday, 9:00am to 12:00 noon

Pantry Partners assist Interfaith in stocking and organizing our food pantry for families. First, volunteers host a canned-food drive to collect needed items. Then, volunteers visit Interfaith to stock the pantry and organize their donation. Our Community Relations Manager provides a needed items list, signage, donation bins, etc. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for youth groups like sports teams, Girl/Boy Scouts, our church groups.

Age Requirement: N/A, Chaperone Required
Available Dates: 7/1, 7/13, 8/5

LIBRARY LEADERS 
2nd Saturday or 4th Friday, 9:00am to 12:00 noon

Library Leaders work with our Youth Services team and Facilities Manager to organize and clean the children’s library. Volunteers follow a simple organizational structure based on reading level and alphabetization. Volunteers can also donate new or gently used children’s book to the library. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals or groups of 2-3.

Age Requirement: 12+, Chaperone Required

BACK-TO-SCHOOL BLESSINGS
Tuesdays in August, 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Back-to-School Blessings helps Interfaith children prepare for the new school year with a note of encouragement and school supply donation. First, volunteers host a school supply drive to collect needed items. Then, volunteers visit Interfaith to write personal, encouraging notes to Interfaith children. Our Community Relations Manager provides a needed-items list, signage, donation bins, example of encouraging note, etc. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for youth groups like sports teams, Girl/Boy Scouts, or church groups.
